London Fashion Week SS15

I looked at Marques/ Almeida for London Fashion Week SS15, as I really like the grungy atmosphere the collection had as a whole. The Lead makeup artist for this show was Terry Barber, a MAC makeup artist. and the hair stylist was Duffy. The show carried an air of 90's grunge and I really liked how the pastel colours of the eyeshadows are offset but the dark colours of the denim. Terry Barber said   "She's slightly sunburned and succumbing to hay fever," he explains. "But, the washes of cool colors give her the illusion of returning from a music festival." The skin is quite pale, which accompanies the grunge look of the collection, and it looks as if the base is quite light, with more emphasis on the cheekbones of the models. A fairly light base keeps with the trend of fresh, clean, skin that is gracing the catwalk in many shows at the moment. The cheekbones have been contoured on all the models, to give them a slopping effect, thinning their faces, and adding to the grungy feel.
   I think that the eyebrows would have been only lightly filled in, so that they don't overpower the face, as the eyes are the main focal point of the makeup. This is also reflected in the gentle stain of pink on the lips, which doesn't distract from the eyes.

The pastel eyeshadow colours are possibly mixed with a makeup mixer as Terry Barber custom-blended the colours. I like the the juxtaposition of the pastel eyes with the dark denims, and how it twists round and reflects on itself so that the clothes become colourful and the eyes become dark.
