Highlighting & Contouring

15.10.14
Highlight & contouring

In our lesson today we looked at highlight and contouring on the face, and changing the face shape. Highlight appears on the cheekbone, browbone, side of temples,  bridge of nose, top of the lip and the chin. It should be 3 shades lighter than the skin, whilst contour, which appears in the hollows of the cheeks, side of nose, and around the side of the forehead, should be 3 shades darker than the skin tone.

For this look we did a heavy and a light contour using different products

Light contour Step by step

1. Maquillage palette, mix base colour and apply
2. conceal under eyes using D32, foundation over the top to blend
3. highlight areas of the face using Mac Vanilla pigment or Revlon photo ready skin lights
4. Make contour by using Ben Nye eyeshadow palette. Mix brown and a tinge of grey
5. Fill in brows with dermacolour
6. Apply blush to apples of cheek, and work way out

Light contour
Heavy duty makeup step by step

2.Conceal with D32 from Dermacolour palette, foundation over top
3. Cream highlight using maquillage palette.
4. Cream highlight using maquillage, yellow, brown, grey, mixed with the original foundation colour. Contour ear to mouth in a triangle shape.
5. Powder face with neutral set by Ben Nye
6. Mac vanilla pigment over cream highligh
7. Go over contouring with Ben Nye powder eyeshadow
8. Blush on cheeks to take away from contour slightly
9. Kryolan lip palette, neutral colour for a minimal stained effect.

Heavier makeup
Overall I enjoyed this makeup, and experimenting with different products to create contour, instead of just using a readymade one. I think I could have been bolder with my heavy duty makeup, but I think that overall it is a nice look as it looks quite natural with more defined features.
